Engraving Options

Damascus is a mixture of 1095 and 15N20, they are heated and then folded over and over toget the desired layers, ours are minimum of 288 layers.

The blade is burned in acid and it turns the layers into different colors. The edge is sharpened and the acid burned edge becomes stain. Damascus needs to be oiled after usage and stored away from the sheath.

Leather Sheath (if pictured): This item comes with a top quality extra thick Leather Sheath. The Leather Sheath is totally hand tooled and sewn, the extra stitching makes it robut and ableto withstand years of rough and tough use.
Item Care and Cleaning: When needed, use a Diamond Wet Stone or better to re-sharpen the blade at 20-degrees. When done using the item, wash it in soap and water, dry completely, coat in gun oil and store away from the sheath. Leather pulls moisture out of the air and can rust the blade if stored improperly.

How to Care for Damascus Blades

HOW IT'S MADE

Damascus patterns are made by forging or "folding" stainless steels and softer high carbon steel. To bring out the pattern, the blades are placed in an "acid bath." During this process, the more corrosive high-carbon steel is eaten away, leaving behind unique patterns. We then “seal” the blades using a museum-grade wax coating.
